Yep! I guess I would say I'm the main Cake Decorator at our local DQ! Smile I'm supposed to only work 2 days (Tues/Thurs) but usually end up covering for one of the othe decorators and work anywhere from 3-5 day a week and one Saturday a month. Smile The managers keep asking me to do the cake orders because they look better than the other decorators'... they are going to give me a big head! lol!

I'd love to share pics! Smile

Dawn, those are beautiful!! My display cakes are a little more "basic" because that's what the manager wants. I was told that I had to either leave a large space in the middle or around the outside to wrte on, so when I'm not there, virtually anyone would be able to do it.

We don't have the pumpkin one out yet, but will soon. Smile I use that cornucopia design, but alter it a bit so that it runs around the outsideedge of the cake, with leaves all around. Smile

I only have a few pics of a couple of the cakes that I do that are different from the other designers & one I recently did for a customer (I wish I remembered my camera more often)....

OK... These I do in several different color combos & you can usually find them in the front case (keep in mind I've only taken 2 cake decorating classes, so they are far from perfect)...

ROBIN 2008_0911Sept20080002

ROBIN 2008_0911Sept20080003

And this one was done recently for a customer who's husband hunted deer, bear & turkey and she wanted all 3 on the cake...

ROBIN 2008_1009Oct20080003

I'll try to remember my camera more often! I love working with the customer to come up with just what they want.... what stinks is that I hardly ever get to see their reaction or know what they think of their finished cake. Sad

I just love that blue flower cake!! I'll have to try that! Your deer is awesome! I have hid that picture cause it looks like crap when I do it!

We have alot of flower cakes in the display too for the same reason. I can't wait till Christmas. We really go all out for that holiday and then on Valentines day, I get caked out!! Last year we did so many of them. Ugh! The first 100 is fun but after that it's really old!!

You know those sucker molds? We have a bunch of those and use cone dip. Right now we are doing leaves and pumpkins. Mix the butterscotch and cherry cone dip to make orange. It taste good to! I'll see if I remember my camera tomorrow and I'll show you what I'm talking about. Makes cakes in a snap!!

Do you have a sprayer? We do, but it doesn't work the best. It's only 10 years old! Rolling Eyes

Yeah, we have an air-brush set-up... works pretty good... it's how I did the background on the turkey/deer/bear cake. How did you do that pumpkin cake... make it so orange? I'm assuming to make them here, I'll have to air-brush it. LOVE the basket weave on your fall cake... will have to try that one! I've used the basket weave, but only in small places on cakes (like along the bottom 1/4 of a floral cake.)

I've only been workin at DQ since the end of May, so I have NO idea what the holidays bring when it comes to cakes!! I'd love to see more examples of what you ae doing... I need some new, fresh ideas! Smile

Well share some pics with us, Deanne!! I pretty much stick to the ice cream cakes for now! I can do some basicthings on regular cakes (roses, rose buds & other flowers), but haven't done nearly as many as I have of the frozen variety!! Smile

Heres an idea for your roses Robin. I'll try to find a picture of one for you...

Take a clear icing bag and put your rose tip on it. Put one color of icing in a bag with the plastic piece on the inside. Do not put a tip on it. Put another color in a bag the same way. Take your clear bag with the rose tip and line one side with color one. Line other side with color 2. If you normally twist the top of the bag (I do) don't this time! Just grab it in your hand and then start making roses! The inside of the rose will be one color, the other side another.

We are trying to figure out how to make carnations. This would be perfect for that!

Let me go see what more pictures I can find!

For the pumpkin, the first one was acutally an accident. I had a pint of vanilla and I was doing the over run. When I was done I took the pint in the back to top a cupcake and I knocked over the orange. I mixed it up and topped a cupcake. Then I got the idea to spread it across a cake. Then I took the rose maker thingy and scratched the lines in it. Now we just spray it.

Our sprayer works fine if you don't have to pin point where your spray is going. It likes to spit and splash alot. (That's how I got the idea to do the paint ball cake!)

You do cupcakes?

We only do frozen cakes (8", 10", Sheet, Logs & hearts around Valentine's Day) made with the soft serve right out of the machines... no cupcaks here. Smile

Thanks for the tip with the roses! Smile

They are made just like the cakes, but we make them in the small sundae cups with a dome lid! All the girls decorate them and they come up with some cute on sometimes! The teachers will get them for their class and coaches order them alot for the team.

Here's some more cakes. This one was just done for my daughters birthday in sept.
