My job Empty My job

Post by hippy_chick Tue Oct 14, 2008 1:19 pm

So last night my boss talked to me like i was a piece of crap, i cannot give up my job, becoz as with any job it pays some bills at the end of the month.

I had a complete meltdown this morning, chewed gary's ear right off, about how tired i was & fed up i cannot feed my children & spend time with them at the end of the day.

So i have been looking for another job, a crossing warden at the kids school informed me they might need somebody at the nursery & it's early morning & afternoon when the kids are going to & from school, {obviously} PERFECT, pro-rota & better wages!! ......applies for it, the only want a fill-in for when the current ladies go sick, so im still going for it, but i just found another job that if i need to fill-in at the croosing warden job can still take my kids to school pick them up & fit this other job in AND have my evening's back with my family!!!

Please please cross your finger's & toes that they send me an application form & i get the job, i SOOOO need this, i must add that this day job in a general ass in a university & is £2 more an hr, more hrs, so half of what i would earn in a month, i earn in a week!!!

Post by hippy_chick Wed Oct 15, 2008 11:52 am

I have applied for a crossing warden, but it's only a stand in postiton, also i am filling out a application form as we speak for a cleaner in a university, 10am-2pm ideal for me as my kids will be in school at that time, & holiday's well, il tackle that when i come to it, but at least i will have {if i get the job} have time for my kids on the evening's & week-end's, the university job may only be tempor due to finding babysitter's for the school holiday's...?? we see how it goes.

depends how much you need the £££ - if you can manage without (even if you need to tighten the budget) then quit. The only people that should stay in jobs they hate are those that really can't afford to quit!

My job Empty Re: My job

Post by Robin G Wed Oct 15, 2008 8:35 pm

Sarah, keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you! Glad you were treated better, it's crazy how some people treat employees...like they aren't important. If you weren't doing your job, he probably would have been! He should be respectful and grateful. That goes a MUCH longer way!

As far as quitting...I know it suck...been there, done that, got that Tshirt, bigtime. But I wouldn't burn my bridges. I know it's hard. But, work until you have a job you want, and then you won't have to worry that much more about the money. IMHO of course, but that's what I would do.

I just left an extremely frustrating job (where patient safety was a HUGE concern for me)! I just kept voicing my frustration, and making a pain out of myself (to some, lol)...but I moved on when I could...and for more money to boot. (I have a longer drive, but it's worth it, my raise totally covered my gas money!). Trust me...it was worth the wait.

Either way for you, I wish you luck, and am thinking of you, sending positive thoughts your way:)

If my kids birthday's & christmas was'nt comming, believe me i would quit right now, ive sat down today & done the pro's & con's & worked out i cant quit, i will just have to wait for a reply from the university job, the crossing warden is ok but only stand in, i may not be called in, in a month at all, kwim?

I had to train a girl today, & tomorrow & she will do my floor on friday, when i am off, i cant see me staying there much longer!!
