Happy New Year Ladies!!
Between traveling, having major internet problems, and of course celebrating the holidays, the Use Your Stash Challenge, had been MIA for a couple of weeks. BUT, like a bad habit (lol), we are back
!
So, to kick the New Year off right, let's Use Some Stuff!
Your challenge is to, use whatever you want...BUT, it can only be things you've had for longer than 1 year. How's that? Most of us have been scrapping for longer, but for any newbies out there, I didn't want to make it too hard.
My example, is actually about part of a hiking trip I took a few years back...rather than about something relating to the New Year. But, one of my goals is to get caught up with projects already in progress....so, in an effort to get my New Year's Goals off to a good start....and to Use Some Stash...I finished this 2-pager.
The background paper is some 'old' stuff...and when I say 'old' I seriously, mean like 6 years or so, lol. The pictures are even from an older event. The cardstock and the brads too, are at least 4 years old. And the printed twill journaling pieces are about 4 years old. Not one thing is new. And while it's true the pages are not super-artsy or anything...they are clean and simple. Nice and neat. And that's ok, (with me at least!). Do it up however you want! Make it edgy...soft and sweet.....grungy....super artsy & technique-laden...it's up to you. I went with nice and neat....and let my pictures be the focus.
Either way, I hope you have fun! AND I hope you USE YOUR STASH! (afterall, you've got newer goodies to get into, I'm sure, after Santa's visit, right?)

Re: Jan 01 2009
I know you guys are going to throw things at me but I don't think I have anything longer than six months and I've been stamping for a year and a half. Isn't that bad?!

I don't have a throwing smiley! You have only been stamping for a year and a half? You would think forever with how awesome your work is!
Re: Jan 01 2009
Christi, you are right...we want to throw things at you, YOU SILLY GIRL!!!
And Jen is right....ONLY a year and a half? ...I'm not telling you how long I've been at this then, lol. Suffice it to say...me has long way to go now....lol
I was being 'gentle' I thought, (for lack of a better word...perhaps 'conservative' would work there too?) when I suggested to use stash you've had for a year or longer...lol
I'm like Dustanne...I have stuff, I've had for .....uhm..... ....
like....probably 7 years now? GAWD!!!
I want to see what you guys make with all your 'OLD' stuff!!! POST POST POST!!!

Re: Jan 01 2009
I love the idea of using only OLD stuff! I went kind of crazy some 8 years back and bought way too much stuff. It's all still sitting there in my closet and on my shelves so I'm going to go grab some and start scrapping.

Re: Jan 01 2009
Here is my layout. I don't even know how old the cardstock is, but at least it's 12x12! When I first started scrapping I only did 8 1/2 x 11! The patterned paper was given to me so not sure when I got that, but it's been in my closet long enough to have gotten dusty. I hand cut the journaling spot and stamped with my Autumn Leaves journaling stamp which was my first journaling stamp image. The clear oval embellishments at the end of the pink word strips are made from Shrink plastic that is at least 10 years old. Even the adhesive is old....! I have to admit these supplies are my oldest, I'll have to grab some more and see what comes up.Oh yeah, and the photos are from 1988!!

Re: Jan 01 2009
Great layout, Robin! Those photo are gorgeous!! You did such a great job showcases many photos while still showing them off beautifully!!
Karen, that is SO pretty! I "think" I recognize that paper from one of the Michael's Slabs... I have some too!! The photos are so cute... she looks so happy!!
I altered a journal over the holidays that used papers from a book of papers that I bought WAY back when I started scrapping... so, it's gotta be over 6 years old!!! And the flowers are at least 3 years old... even the ribbon has been in my stash for years!!
